Despite the recession and seemingly endless bad news on a wider, country-wide and global scale, last year was one of the best years of my life.

This is a bit of a smugfest, so apologies for that. But it’s been a good year. I’ve had some years which have been pretty crappy so I feel doubly appreciative of everything I was blessed with in 2011.

Some of the best bits:

- moving in with Peter
- getting engaged
- going to Denver and meeting my friends’ son for the first time
- fake Christmas with the NMIS group
- having really good friends who are great at fish punnery
- my god daughter saying my name for the first time
- my parents moving to the UK
- thanksgiving at my parents’ house
- buying a flat and getting excited about what it will look like when we finish doing it up
- finding out great work news for both me and Peter right before Christmas

If 2012 is even half as good to me as 2011 was, it will be a great year. I hope your year is full of happiness!
