Louise, I went to Staines! Ok, I only went there to walk out of it, but it didn’t seem so bad… it had a nice pelican (?) statue and some chavvy pubs… Peter and I went for a long walk (9 miles) on Sunday, from Staines to Windsor all along the river. It was so beautiful!

We had a delicious picnic in the shadow of the castle, on a cricket green that we think was part of Eton.

We didn’t stop in Windsor itself, but it looked lovely, if a bit crowded with tourists (and swans)!
